POS by type of shop
PointLit is POS and inventory software for independent shops. It fits clothing and shoe stores best, with sizes, colours and seasonal Collections, and it also suits supermarkets and groceries, cosmetics and perfume shops, and restaurants and cafés, with tables, kitchen tickets and split checks. Other kinds of shop are welcome too: the early-access form asks for your shop type, and we will tell you honestly whether PointLit fits.
Choose your type of shop
- Clothing and shoe stores
Sizes and colours with swatches, seasonal Collections with end-of-season markdowns, transfers between branches, exchanges, and a Size curve report.
- Supermarkets and groceries
Fast scanning with keyboard-style barcode scanners, receiving from suppliers, stock counts, shifts and the Z-report.
- Cosmetics and perfume shops
Many small items, blind counts against shrinkage, staff permissions, a stock ledger nobody can edit, and barcode labels.
- Restaurants and cafés
Tables on a map of the room, open checks shared by phones and tills, kitchen tickets and a kitchen screen, split checks, service charge and tips.
What every shop gets
- A till with shifts, a blind close count, X and Z reports and the cash variance.
- Refunds, voids and discounts as separate permissions, and split payment across up to four methods.
- An append-only stock ledger, with a stock card for every item and blind stock counts.
- Goods receipts, returns to suppliers and supplier balances.
- Several branches with transfers between them and prices per branch.
- Arabic and English throughout, with Arabic receipts printed correctly by the PointLit Windows app on a receipt printer installed in Windows, or from a web browser through the print dialog.
- About 60 reports, with CSV, Excel and PDF export and scheduled email.
Is your shop a different kind?
You do not need to sell clothes, groceries or cosmetics to use PointLit. Shops that make part of what they sell can use recipes and modifiers with production orders, and any shop with stock and a till can use the rest.
Some trades need things PointLit does not do yet, such as serial or IMEI numbers for phone shops, or warnings about items close to their expiry date. Rather than guess, tell us your shop type on the early-access form or at support@pointlit.com, and we will say plainly what fits and what does not.
Questions and answers
- Which shops is PointLit best suited to?
- Clothing and shoe stores are the strongest fit, because sizes and colours, seasonal Collections and transfers between branches are built in. Supermarkets and groceries, and cosmetics and perfume shops, also fit well for scanning, receiving, counts and staff control. Each has its own page that says what PointLit does and what it does not do yet.
- Can I use PointLit for a shop type that is not listed?
- Yes, as long as what you need is built. Any shop with stock and a till can use the till, shifts, stock ledger, counts, suppliers, branches and reports. Shops that need serial or IMEI numbers, or warnings about expiry dates, should know these are not built yet. Tell us your shop type and we will answer honestly.
- Does PointLit work for a shop with several branches?
- Yes. Each branch has its own stock, tills and shifts. Stock moves between branches with transfers that are sent and then received, prices can differ per branch, and reports show one branch, several or all of them. Each member's Locations setting limits the branches where they can sell and read stock.
