POS features for independent shops

PointLit is POS and inventory software for independent shops. The till rings sales, handles shifts and keeps selling if the internet drops mid-shift. Behind it sit an append-only stock ledger, blind stock counts, goods receipts, transfers between branches, sizes and colours, Collections, staff roles and about 60 reports, in Arabic and English.

Refunds and returns

A refund is a new document written against the original sale, never an edit of it. You decide on each refund whether the goods go back on the shelf, and a void reverses a whole bill in one step. On a customer's bill, the refund also returns loyalty points and on-account credit in proportion.

Reports

About 60 reports cover sales, stock, purchasing, customers, staff and expenses, with an owner dashboard on top. Every report exports to CSV and Excel, or prints and saves as PDF, and any report can be emailed on a schedule: daily, weekly or monthly.

The owner dashboard on a computer: bills, average basket, units per bill, net profit, margin and cash variance for the last seven days, each with a trend line.

Recipes and modifiers

For shops that make part of what they sell, a product can carry a recipe of ingredients, and the cashier picks modifiers at the till. Production orders turn ingredients into finished stock, written to the same ledger as everything else.

Loyalty and customer accounts

Customers earn loyalty points and spend them at the till. Account customers can buy on account up to a credit limit, and each has a statement showing every movement on their balance.

Expenses and net profit

Record rent, wages and electricity against a branch. The Net profit report sets net sales, cost of goods sold and expenses side by side for each branch and period. A mistaken expense is reversed with a reason, never edited.

Partner API

A REST API with an OpenAPI document lets your online store or another system read the catalogue and live stock, place orders and take returns. The developer pages explain tokens, errors and limits.

Arabic and English

Every screen works in Arabic, laid out right to left, and in English, and on-screen and emailed receipts are fully Arabic. From version 0.8.0, the Windows app prints Arabic receipts as one picture on a receipt printer installed in Windows; a web browser prints them through the print dialog.

Questions and answers

Is PointLit a POS system or an inventory system?
Both, in one product. The till that rings sales writes to the same stock ledger that goods receipts, transfers and stock counts write to, so the stock on hand you see in the back office is the result of every sale and delivery, not a second set of numbers someone keeps up to date by hand.
Does PointLit work without the internet?
Partly. If the internet drops during a shift, the till keeps ringing cash and card sales and sends them in order when the line returns, as long as the till stays open. The register can also open with no internet on a till that has opened your business online since PointLit's last update; choosing a customer, reports and management screens wait for the connection.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Every report exports to CSV and Excel, or prints and saves as PDF, and what you see on screen with your filters is exactly what goes into the file. Your products, sales, stock and customer records belong to your business, and you can export them whenever you want.
Can PointLit connect to my online store?
Yes, through the partner REST API. A developer can read your catalogue and live stock, place orders and take returns, using an API token you create. The API is described in an OpenAPI document, and the developer pages cover authentication, errors, pagination and rate limits.
