PointLit vs Daftra: which one suits your shop?
Daftra is a cloud business suite with accounting, HR and a POS, and it states that it issues Egyptian ETA e-invoices and e-receipts. PointLit is POS and inventory software for shops, with a Free plan for one shop and offline selling on every plan, but no ETA e-receipts yet. If you must issue ETA documents now, choose a system that issues them today.
What is the difference between PointLit and Daftra?
Daftra covers a whole business. Its plans page lists sales and a cloud POS, invoices and quotes, customer management, inventory and purchases, accounting with a chart of accounts and financial reports, operations and HR with payroll. Its Egyptian e-invoice page states that it is integrated with the Tax Authority's e-invoice system and lets you issue e-receipts.
PointLit is built for the shop floor: the till, shifts and the counted drawer, stock across branches, sizes and colours, labels and the reports a shop owner reads. It records expenses, net profit and what you owe suppliers, but it is not a full accounting system, and it does not issue ETA documents yet.
Every fact about Daftra below comes from Daftra's own website, read on 19 October and 1 November 2026; the sources are listed at the end. We make PointLit.

What does Daftra offer that PointLit does not?
- Egyptian e-invoicing: Daftra states that it is integrated with the ETA e-invoice system and lets you issue e-receipts. PointLit does not issue either yet.
- A whole business in one system: accounting with a chart of accounts and journal entries, HR and payroll, customer management and manufacturing, as its plans page lists.
- Phones: Daftra has apps for iOS and Android. PointLit runs in a phone's web browser and has no app in the stores yet.
- Serial numbers: Daftra lists serial tracking, which a phone or electronics shop may need. PointLit does not track serial or IMEI numbers.
Where is PointLit stronger?
- A Free plan: one shop can run PointLit's till, shifts and stock without a monthly price. Daftra lists no free plan.
- Selling through an internet cut on every plan: during a shift the till keeps ringing cash and card sales and sends them when the line returns. Daftra's plans page lists its offline POS terminals on the Premium plan only.
- A blind close count: the cashier types the counted cash before PointLit shows the expected cash and the variance, and a closed shift cannot be reopened.
- Clothing and shoes: sizes and colours with their own barcodes, a Barcode rule that builds them, seasonal Collections, and reports such as Size curve and Stock ageing with its Dead stock verdict.
- Arabic receipts on paper: from version 0.8.0 the PointLit Windows app prints the whole receipt as one picture on a printer installed in Windows.
Which should you choose?
- If the Tax Authority requires your business to issue e-receipts or e-invoices now, choose a system that issues them today; PointLit does not yet. If you want your accounting, payroll and POS in one system, choose one whose plans include all three.
- Choose PointLit if you run one or more shops and want a till that keeps selling through internet cuts, honest shift closes and stock by size and colour, and you can wait for ETA support.
- If you are unsure, use both trials on the same week with the same twenty products, and print an Arabic receipt from each on your own printer.
Questions and answers
- Is PointLit cheaper than Daftra?
- Compare the live prices side by side: PointLit's are on its pricing page and Daftra's on its plans page, both in Egyptian pounds. PointLit has a Free plan for one shop and Daftra lists none. For paid plans, compare like for like: branches, staff logins, warehouses, and whether selling offline costs extra.
- Does Daftra issue ETA e-receipts?
- Daftra's Egyptian e-invoice page states that it is integrated with the Tax Authority's e-invoice system and that it lets you issue e-receipts by connecting to the e-receipt system. PointLit does not issue e-receipts or e-invoices yet; support is planned.
- Which one keeps selling when the internet drops?
- Both say they can. PointLit keeps ringing cash and card sales during a shift on every plan, up to 200 on one till. Daftra's plans page lists offline POS terminals on its Premium plan, and its desktop POS app has an offline mode.
- Can I move my products from Daftra to PointLit?
- Not from a file yet: PointLit cannot import products, customers or stock from a file. Products are added on the Products screen, and a Barcode rule can give each new one a barcode. On Enterprise, moving your data is part of the support, by agreement.
- Do both work in Arabic?
- Yes. Daftra's site and help are in Arabic and English, and PointLit works fully in Arabic, right to left, and in English. Before you choose, print an Arabic receipt from each on the printer you will use, because that is where the difference usually shows.
