POS and inventory software for independent shops

Keep selling when the internet drops mid-shift, and trust your numbers even when you are not in the shop: no one can type over a stock figure, and blind counts of the shelves and the cash drawer are there whenever you want them. Made for independent shops in Egypt, with one branch or several, in Arabic and English.

Built for your kind of shop

A POS system for clothing stores, supermarkets, beauty shops and restaurants

One point of sale and inventory system for shops that sell from a counter. These are the shops it was shaped around.

How it works

Point of sale and inventory in one system

PointLit is a point of sale and inventory system for independent shops. The till rings up sales and keeps going through an internet drop, every stock movement is a line in a ledger nobody can overwrite, and receipts print in Arabic or English. These are the screens your staff use every day. Selling in Egypt? Read about POS for shops in Egypt: prices in Egyptian pounds and VAT at 14%.

When the internet drops

A POS that keeps selling when the internet drops mid-shift

If the line goes down during a shift, the till keeps ringing up sales and taking cash and card payments. Each sale waits in a queue and is sent the moment the internet is back, as long as the till stays open, and the badge shows how many are waiting. The register can even open with no internet, on a till that has opened your business online since PointLit's last update.

The register with the internet down: the badge reads Offline, 2 queued, and a note says the sale is queued and will be sent on reconnect.

Stock ledger

Inventory management with a stock card for every item

Every movement, whether a delivery in, a sale out, a transfer or a count, is one line in an append-only ledger. On-hand stock is worked out from those lines and never typed over, so when a number is questioned you open the item's stock card and point at the line, with who recorded it and when.

The stock movements report for one variant, a white linen shirt in size M: each sale, transfer and receipt with its date, branch, quantity and unit cost.

Stock counts

Blind stock counts that show the real difference

Start a count as a blind count and staff type what is on the shelf while the system quantity stays hidden, so nobody copies the expected number. You review every difference before the count is posted, and the count becomes one more line in the ledger. At the till, you decide by role who sees the expected cash before counting the drawer.

A blind count in progress at the Zamalek branch: a list of items, each with an empty box for the counted quantity and no system figure shown.

Suppliers and receiving

Receiving stock from suppliers, straight into inventory

Record a delivery with its supplier, quantities and unit costs, and stock and cost update in one step. Supplier returns and what you owe each supplier sit beside it, so what you owe matches what actually arrived.

Recording a goods receipt from a supplier at the main warehouse: two lines with quantity and unit cost, on the supplier's 30-day credit terms.

Branches and transfers

A multi-store POS with stock transfers between branches

Send stock from the warehouse to a shop: it leaves when it is sent and arrives only when the other branch receives it, so nothing is counted twice on the way. Each branch can have its own prices, and the reports add every branch up in one place.

Transfers coming into the Zamalek branch: a restock from the main warehouse in transit, 50 pieces sent, with Receive and Reject buttons.

Sizes, colours and seasons

Sizes, colours and seasons for clothing stock

Pick the colours and sizes once and every combination becomes a variant with its own barcode, price and stock. Group products into Collections such as Summer 2026, then plan, open and close each season and see how it sold.

The product builder: colour chips from White to Charcoal, sizes S to XL, and three colours by four sizes making 12 variants.

Hardware

Works with receipt printers, barcode scanners and cash drawers

Printers, cash drawer and scale connect through the Windows app, which prints Arabic receipts as one picture on a receipt printer installed in Windows. In a web browser, receipts print through the print dialog. Download the Windows app

Questions

Questions shop owners ask before switching

Does PointLit work offline?

Partly, and it is worth knowing exactly where the line is. If the internet drops during a shift, the till keeps ringing up sales and taking cash and card payments, holds each sale in a queue on that till, and sends them all by itself when the line comes back. If the till has to restart, it opens the register again with no internet, as long as it has opened your business online since PointLit's last update; a till that has not, such as a new computer, cannot open until the line is back. Choosing a customer, and with it loyalty points and on-account sales, waits for the connection, and so do reports and the management screens.

What does PointLit cost?

Starter is the Free plan, for one shop. Counter and Chain are paid monthly, every 3 or 6 months, or yearly, and Enterprise is priced with you. Prices are in Egyptian pounds for shops in Egypt and in US dollars elsewhere, and every plan and price is on the pricing page. New business registration is closed for now; requesting early access costs nothing and commits your shop to nothing. Outside Egypt, Counter costs $29 a month and Chain $79 a month for 3 branches, paid yearly; Starter is the Free plan for one shop.

More in the FAQ

Can I use my existing receipt printer, barcode scanner and cash drawer?

Most likely, yes. Barcode scanners are the easy case: nearly all of them behave like a keyboard, so a scan types the code and PointLit reads it with no driver and no setup. Receipt printers with 58 mm or 80 mm paper and a cash drawer that opens through the printer work through the PointLit Windows app. A weighing scale can be connected to the Windows app and tested from its settings; at the till the cashier enters the weight as the quantity. In a web browser, a receipt prints through the computer's own print dialog to any printer installed on it, while the cash drawer and the scale still need the Windows app. From version 0.8.0, the Windows app prints Arabic receipts as one picture on a receipt printer installed in Windows; a printer connected to a serial port still prints Arabic letters as question marks. Tell us your printer and scale models at support@pointlit.com before you rely on them.

Does PointLit issue Egyptian e-receipts (ETA)?

Not yet. PointLit does not send receipts to the Egyptian Tax Authority's e-receipt system today. It is planned, and this answer will change when it is ready. Until then, if your shop is required to issue e-receipts, keep the system you issue them with, and write to support@pointlit.com before you switch.

More in the FAQ

Do you help with setup and moving from paper or Excel?

Yes. There is no self-service importer yet, so moving a product list from a notebook or a spreadsheet into PointLit is something we work through with you. Write to support@pointlit.com and tell us what you have: roughly how many products, whether they come in sizes and colours, and how many branches you run. We will tell you the quickest way to get your products, prices and opening stock in.

More in the FAQ

Can I use PointLit on a tablet?

Yes, in the tablet's web browser. Open your shop's web address, sign in and use the till there: the screens are laid out for tablets, held sideways or upright. There are no PointLit apps in the App Store or Google Play yet. On a tablet, receipts print through the browser's print dialog, while a cash drawer and a scale need the PointLit Windows app on a computer.
