How to print barcode labels in PointLit
PointLit prints price and barcode labels from the Barcode Printer screen.
Fill its basket by scanning items or from a goods receipt, choose a label design, which sets the size and the printer, and press Print. The Windows app sends the labels to the printer; in a web browser they go through the print dialog.
Set up a label design once
- Open Manage, then Barcode Printer. If the Print panel says No label design yet, press Create a design.
- Under Start from a template, pick your stock: Label rolls such as 50 × 30 mm, A4 sheets of 21, 24, 40 or 65 stickers, or Receipt paper.
- The template shows the product name, price, attributes such as size and colour, and barcode. Add Was price or Model number if needed, set Label language to Arabic for Arabic labels, and turn on Add tax to prices if VAT is added at the till.
- Under Prints through, choose Windows printer, or TSPL, ZPL or ESC/POS for a raw label printer, then press Save design.
Fill the print basket
- Scan or search: each scan adds one label.
- Goods receipts: after recording a delivery, press Add to Barcode Printer for one label per piece received.
- Products: tick the variants, choose 1 each or On hand at a branch, and press Add to Barcode Printer.
- Add from stock…, Add a whole collection… and Labels for price changes… add a branch's stock, a Collection or every repriced item.
Print the labels
- In the Print panel, check the Design and, in Prices from, the branch whose prices the labels carry.
- Set Copies, and on a part-used A4 sheet pick the first empty sticker under Start position.
- Press Preview, then Print, which shows the count, for example Print 48 labels.
- Afterwards, Remove printed clears those lines from the basket; Keep leaves them.
Printing from the Windows app or a browser
In the PointLit Windows app, labels print without a dialog to the printer chosen for that design on that computer. The first time, press Choose printer and pick a Windows printer, a serial (COM) port, a network printer or a Windows printer in RAW mode. Calibrate nudges the print into place.
In a web browser, a Windows printer design opens the print dialog; TSPL, ZPL and ESC/POS designs need the Windows app, or print as a page through the dialog. Arabic prints correctly either way, because PointLit draws the label itself.
Products without barcodes
A label prints each variant's own barcode. If your products have none, open Manage, then Barcode rule, build a rule from pieces such as Fixed characters, Sequence number and EAN-13 check digit, set it Active and press Save rule. New products saved without a barcode then get one. Labels print EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8 or Code 128.
Questions and answers
- Can I print labels for a whole delivery?
- Yes. Right after you record a goods receipt, press Add to Barcode Printer: each line arrives in the basket with one label per whole piece received. Lower the Labels figure where items already carry a manufacturer's barcode. The button then says Added to Barcode Printer.
