Seasons and Collections in PointLit
A Collection in PointLit is a season, such as Summer 2026, and every product belongs to exactly one.
A new Collection starts as Planned, so you can build its products and prices before the stock arrives. You Open it to sell and receive, and Close it at the end, after carrying unsold stock into the next season.
Create a season
- Open Manage, then Collections, and press New collection.
- Type a Name and a Code of 1 to 4 letters or digits, for example SS26. Colour, Starts on and Ends on are optional, and the dates are reminders only.
- Build the season's products. The product form has a Collection field, and only planned and open Collections take new products.
- When the stock arrives, press Open. Its products can then be sold, received and edited.

What each status allows
- Planned: products and prices can be prepared, but the till does not sell them yet.
- Open: the Collection sells, receives deliveries and can be edited.
- Closed: no sales, no goods receipts and no product or price edits. Returns against old bills, stock counts, transfers and carry-over still work, and Reopen brings it back. Nothing is deleted.
End the season
- Count what is left first: a stock count can be limited to one Collection.
- On the old Collection choose Carry over… and follow the steps: Products, Target, Barcodes, Model numbers, Prices, Locations and Preview. PointLit copies the chosen products into the new Collection and moves their stock and cost at each location you tick, shown on the stock history as Carried over out and Carried over in.
- Keep barcodes is the default, so labels already on the shelf still ring up. Type a Markdown % to take that percentage off the prices. To make the marked-down prices end on a round number, also choose Round to and How to round: they round each marked-down price in its own currency, and only when there is a markdown.
- Press Carry over, then Close the old Collection.
Questions and answers
- Which Collection does the till sell?
- When the till starts, the cashier chooses an open Collection, and the till sells that one first; items of other open Collections can still be scanned. To see how each season did, open the Collection performance report: pieces sold, margin, stock on hand and sell-through, one line per Collection. Most reports can also be filtered to the Collections you choose.
