Adding products with sizes and colours in PointLit

In PointLit, sizes and colours are attributes, and each combination is a variant.

Create Size and Colour once under Attributes. In New product, tick the sizes and colours a model comes in, and PointLit builds one row per variant, with its own barcode, price and stock. At the till, scanning a label adds the exact size and colour.

Create the sizes and colours once

  1. Open Manage, then Attributes. In the New attribute form, type the Attribute name, for example Size.
  2. Type the values in the order they should read, such as S, M, L, XL, or 38 to 45 for shoes. Add a value adds another line.
  3. For Colour, turn on Colour swatches and pick a colour for each value. It shows beside the value in Products, at the till and in the reports.
  4. Press Add to dictionary. Each value also gets a Code that a barcode rule can print.

Add a product with sizes and colours

  1. Open Products, press New product and type the Product name.
  2. Under Varies by, tick the values the model comes in. Combinations shows the count, for example Colour (3) × Size (4) = 12 variants, one row each.
  3. Give each row its Barcode and Price. To set one price everywhere, type it under Fill every row and press Apply to all, then change the rows that differ.
  4. Leave a Barcode empty and it is Generated on save, if a barcode rule is active. With We use SKUs switched on in Business settings, each row also takes an SKU.
  5. Tick Add the new variants to the Barcode Printer for one label each, then press Add 12 to the catalog.
The product builder: colour chips from White to Charcoal, sizes S to XL, and three colours by four sizes making 12 variants.

How the till picks the size and colour

On the till, a model is one tile showing its number of options, for example 12 options. Tapping it opens a sheet titled Choose and the product's name, with one row per variant: its colour swatch, its barcode and how many are in stock. Scanning a label skips that step. When a size is sold out, Where else is this? shows what the other branches hold, while the till is online.

Adding a size or colour later

If the colour is new, add it under Attributes with Edit values, then Add value. Open the model in Products and press Add variants: the rows it already has are greyed, so tick the new values and save. Existing variants keep their barcodes, prices and stock, and the Size curve report shows how each size sells against what is on hand.

One product’s variants in a table: a linen shirt from the Summer 2026 collection in Sky Blue and White, sizes S to XL, each with its own barcode, a price of EGP 1,250.00, its cost and the stock on hand.

Questions and answers

Can each size have its own price?
Yes. The price belongs to the variant, so an XXL can cost more than an S of the same model. Apply to all fills every row; then change the few that differ. Each variant also has its own barcode and its own stock in every branch.
Can I record a fabric that is the same for every size?
Yes, once Product attributes is switched on in Business settings (Manage, then Business); it is off by default. New product then shows Describes the whole product, for facts true of every variant, such as a material. They show on labels and in search, but never multiply the variants or appear in a variant's name.
